Enlightened Theatre Youth Company (ETYC) is the premier performance youth company for children, ages 5-10. This is a unique and exciting opportunity for youth to be involved in the professional process of live performance. Youth from California,Florida,Australia, Haiti, Guyana, and Trinidad have experienced workshops taught by ETYC Director, Ashlee K. Thomas with major productions in Los Angeles, California and Miami, Florida. We are excited to bring the opportunity to Melbourne, Australia. ETYC presents: Alice in Wonderland & The Wizard of Oz adapted by: Ashlee Katrice Thomas A 2ACT smash up of our favourite fairy tale stories with themes of community, inclusion, and responsibility. PRODUCTION PROCESS Enlightened Theatre empowers youth using performing arts as a vehicle for self development that promotes academic excellence, confidence, creativity, and community engagement. Our unique audition and training process allows children to release their inhibitions and gain technical creative skills in theatre, dance, and singing. We train our members to be multi-faceted performing artist and extraordinary professionals!!! ETYC members participate in a 8 week rehearsal process beginning 16th of March - 4th of May (Performance Day) ETYC members meet twice a week: TUES: 5:30-7:30pm & SAT 11:30-2:30pm Each meet day has a training class that transitions into rehearsal allowing youth technical training in dance, theater, and music ETYC members receive professional footage of their show including interviews and photos for their portfolio AUDITIONS/OPEN CLASS The word "Auditions" can be very intimidating. We stay away from that term when working with our creative geniuses. Our goal is to inspire and engage youth in the performing arts so that have a desire to continue. Instead of using the traditional process in where each applicant goes up one by one to showcase their talent (which can be extremely terrifying for a child) we provide 2 open classes where we guide the prospective members through fun theatre, dance, and singing activities. We have a conversation with prospectives performers to find out what they really enjoy which allows us to place them in a performance role they would love. Our plays are especially written to ensure that every child has an opportunity to shine, whether it be in a speaking, dancing or singing role. Our shows are capped at 30 students.
